Job Description
“Position Summary:
This position falls under the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Candidates must be between the ages of 16 – 29 AND must also be either a Canadian Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen at the time of application. The candidate hired for this opportunity will be employed under the program for a Maximum of 8 weeks of work.
The A/V and IT Assistant is adaptable, versatile, and skilled in capturing Video content, social media posting, and IT communications to achieve the IT-focused objectives of the organization. The IT and A/V Assistant would ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the IT Team and support the work of the IT Coordinator.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Social Media and Content Creation
Media Recording & Editing
Record video footage and audio during organizational events, interviews, and staff highlights using phone or camera setups.
Edit short-form content (Reels & Stories) using CapCut for fast turnaround and mobile-friendly format.
Edit long-form videos or professional content using DaVinci Resolve, applying branding, transitions, and subtitles where needed.
Export content in platform-optimized formats and ensure quality control before posting.
Social Media Management
Publish posts, stories, reels, and carousel content to Instagram
Write engaging captions, choose appropriate hashtags, and tag relevant accounts.
Monitor and respond to comments, escalating important queries to management as needed.
Instagram Management
Schedule and publish posts, stories, reels, and carousel content to Instagram using Meta Business Suite.
Write engaging captions, choose appropriate hashtags, and tag relevant accounts.
Monitor and respond to DMs and comments, escalating important queries to management.
1. Technological Support and Assistance
Hardware Support
Issuing and recovering devices that are provided to staff (ex. Laptops, cellphones, monitors, keyboards, headphones etc.)
Track IT equipment issued to staff through Booqable Inventory tracking system
Performing hardware upgrades and replacements for staff and members as required
Software Support
Installing and configuring both Windows and Apple OS for staff use
Troubleshooting common application and operating-system based issues (ex. Camera driver installation, Microsoft office configuration, various account resets)
Assisting with software updates and patching
User Account & Access Support
Create and manage user accounts in Microsoft 365 Admin Centre (ex. Assigning product licenses, setting account roles)
Reset user passwords and manage Microsoft account licenses for staff and members
Grant or revoke access to Microsoft applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
Qualifications:
Must be between the ages of 16 – 29 at the time of application
Must be either a Canadian Permanent Resident OR Canadian Citizen at the time of application
1 year of overall experience using video editing tools such as Capcut and Davinci resolve to create content, compress videos, and edit video files to be posted to platforms
1 year of posting content for engagement on social media platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn or similar platforms
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve technological issues as it relates to hardware and software
Understanding of issues, needs, and realities of black lead and serving organizations
Cultural competence working in diverse Black communities
Excellent interpersonal and team skills
Excellent written and oral English communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite, Resourcefulness, initiative and flexibility to function effectively as part of a small team
Knowledge and experience of working within an anti-oppression and antiracist framework
Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
Superior time management and organization skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Wage: $17.20/hour
Reports to: IT Coordinator
Duration and Hours: 8 Weeks (35 hours per week)
